Designs

Interfaces built like machines — loud on the surface, ruthless underneath. Web experiences, visual systems, and creative builds with a pulse.

The Studio

Manifesto

We design like engineers and build like machines — every pixel earns its place, every interaction locks on and holds.

PhoNull Designs is an independent studio working at the seam between graphic design and creative technology. Posters that behave like dashboards. Websites that feel like hardware. Brands with targeting systems for eyes.

Small by design, senior by default. One point of contact, no account managers, no hand-offs into the void — the person who designs it is the person who builds it.

CAP / 01

Web Experiences

Fast, theatrical websites with real engineering underneath — designed to be remembered and built to hold up under load.

CAP / 02

Visual Identity

Wordmarks, type systems, and graphic languages with industrial bones — identities that survive contact with the real world.

CAP / 03

Interface Systems

HUD-grade dashboards, design systems, and component libraries — dense information made legible at a glance.

CAP / 04

Creative Builds

Interactive experiments, generative artwork, and one-off machines for launches, events, and people who like weird.

TARGET ACQUIRED

Chrome Protocol

A character-art direction study: polished endoskeleton forms, hydraulic detail, and red-optic menace — built as a reusable visual language for posters, covers, and campaign key art.

Redline HUD

An interface concept in pure phosphor red: targeting reticles, circular gauges, and schematic diagrams composed into a single-glance command view. Proof that monochrome is a feature, not a limitation.

BUILT, NOT BOUGHT

Workbench MK-II

Product-concept photography direction for fictional field hardware: safety-yellow armor, chunky mechanical keys, and a workshop that looks like it could build the thing back.

Media Stacks

Build · Deploy · Handoff

Your library deserves a machine that just works. We build and deploy media server stacks for people who want their own setup — spec'd, installed, and handed over with the keys.

STACK / A — GROUND-UP

Custom Build

A stack designed around your hardware, your library, and how hands-on you want to be. We spec the machine, lay out the services, lock down access, and leave you a setup that can grow disc by disc instead of falling over.

STACK / B — ARRAY-FIRST

Unraid Build

Already running Unraid, or want the friendlier path to a serious home server? We configure storage, shares, and apps so the array stays boring, the library stays online, and adding space is a chore — not a project.

You own the box, the data, and the passwords. We build it, deploy it, and leave you a map — no black boxes, no lock-in.

Infrastructure Builds

Servers · Virtualization · Containers

Media stacks are just the start. We also build and deploy the metal underneath — virtualization hosts, container platforms, and the bare-metal servers they run on.

BUILD / A — VIRTUALIZATION

Proxmox Servers

A bare-metal Proxmox host turns one box into a fleet. We spec the hardware, install and tune the hypervisor, carve up storage and networking, and leave you a cluster — or a single node — that can grow VM by VM instead of server by server.

BUILD / B — CONTAINERS

Docker & Podman

Containers without the chaos. Whether it's Docker Compose stacks for a home server or daemonless Podman for locked-down hosts, we set up the runtime, the networking, and the update routine so your services stay boring in the best possible way.

BUILD / C — ORCHESTRATION

Kubernetes

When one host stops being enough, Kubernetes spreads the load. We stand up clusters sized for real work — from a three-node homelab to production-grade — with ingress, storage, and observability wired in from day one, not bolted on later.

BUILD / D — BARE METAL

Server Builds

Sometimes the right answer is just a well-built box. We design and assemble servers around the workload — compute, storage, networking — cable-managed, burned in, and documented before it ever hits your rack.

Same deal as the media stacks: you own the box, the data, and the passwords. We build it, deploy it, and leave you a map — no black boxes, no lock-in.

How It Runs

Four-phase cycle
01

Scan

We map the terrain — audience, constraints, and the one thing the work has to do. No deliverables yet, just signal.

02

Design

Directions get drawn, not described. You react to real compositions, real type, real color — early enough to matter.

03

Build

Design and code move together. What you approved is what ships — no translation layer, no telephone game.

04

Deploy

Launch, measure, tighten. The machine stays maintained — a build that can't be serviced is a liability.

to build? Let's talk.

Commissions open for the current cycle — websites, identities, interfaces, media stack builds, server and container-platform builds, and strange one-off builds. Generate a project brief below, paste it into your message, and the studio takes it from there.
